Adams' rib

Former Chanhassen Theatre standout Amy Adams returns to the stage as host of "Saturday Night Live," a popular stop for those on the awards campaign trail. Adams is hoping to pick up her sixth Oscar nomination for her work in "Big Eyes." One Direction provides the music. 10:29 p.m. Saturday, KARE, Ch. 11

Do-re-mi

NBC is rerunning its 2013 live rendition of "The Sound of Music," starring Carrie Underwood. 7 p.m. Saturday, KARE, Ch. 11. If that's not enough, revisit the 1965 original with Julie Andrews. It's a sing-along version with lyrics on screen so you can annoy your family with "My Favorite Things." 6 p.m. Sunday, KSTP, Ch. 5

Talking the talk

"The Comeback" continues a very satisfying second season with the premiere of Valerie's (Lisa Kudrow) new show, "Seeing Red," which prompts a visit with the real-life cast of "The Talk." Co-writer Michael Patrick King, who also directs this episode, is almost atoning for the fact that he's largely responsible for "2 Broke Girls." 9 p.m. Sunday, HBO
