Witchy woman

"The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" has a special gift for Christmas — or should we say solstice? In a "bonus" episode, the good witch makes contact with her not-so-dearly departed mother and tries to rescue a friend before she's dipped in wax. Thank goodness she can rely on the support of Lucy Davis' Aunt Hilda, the gift that keeps on giving.

Midwest menu

Chef Lidia Bastianich may refer to those of us who live in this state as "Minnesot-ee-ans," but you'll forgive her after watching her joyous new special, "Lidia Celebrates America: A Heartland Holiday Feast," which features a stop in Walker, Minn., for some ice fishing and lefse. The menu also includes pork and greens with the Hmong community in Wausau, Wis.

A time to kill

Two harrowing murders in Ada, Okla., seem like open-and-shut cases, but the fact that acclaimed author John Grisham wrote a book on them — and that there's now a six-part documentary based on what he found — is a strong hint that there's much more afoot. "The Innocent Man" takes its time exposing the holes in the police investigation, which means the real head-scratching doesn't occur until well into the third episode.
