Ride along

"Saturday Night Live" usually provides some extra gifts for its Christmas episodes and with red-hot elf Kevin Hart as host, anything is possible. Hopefully, that includes giving the underappreciated Melissa Villaseñor more to do. This will be the eighth time Foo Fighters have performed on the show.

10:30 p.m. Saturday, KARE, Ch. 11

Hell, boy

Guillermo del Toro is getting accolades for his latest feature film, "The Shape of Water," but he should also take a few bows for the second season of "Trollhunters," his richly animated series about a teenager battling demons that could be the offspring of Hobbits and the dark forces from "Stranger Things." Anton Yelchin recorded his parts as the voice of the young warrior before his untimely death in June 2016.

A hand for the little guy

"CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute" offers some much-needed good news, with a salute to Americans making their marks by doing everything from providing homes for orphaned children to offering up BBQ to those affected by hurricanes. Sterling Brown, Diane Lane and Common are among the presenters.

7 p.m. Sunday, CNN
