Rebel yell

Leah Remini is mainly in the news these days because of plans to re-team her with Kevin James for a reboot season of "Kevin Can Wait." But the TV Critics Association last week acknowledged "Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath" as outstanding reality series. In her acceptance speech, Remini joked that she always thought she'd be rewarded for comedy instead. That'll come; for now, this returning series is worth honors on its own.

Water, water everywhere

Terrific reviews for "Wind River" should convince folks to check out 2016's "Hell or High Water," since both scripts were written by Taylor Sheridan, who puts as much emphasis on his characters' pauses as he does on their monologues. In an Oscar-nominated performance, Jeff Bridges continues to show why he's in his prime.

Crushin' it

Brad Paisley plays a mean guitar, but his lyrics and interviews show he also has a dazzling wit. That makes "Brad Paisley's Comedy Rodeo" a lot more appealing than a new version of "Hee Haw," especially with professional standups such as Nate Bargatze and Sarah Tiana around to lend support. The country music star will be at Treasure Island Casino in Red Wing on Aug. 26.
