Eel-ementary

"The Mystery of Eels" (7 p.m., TPT, Ch. 2) looks into conservationist James Prosek's fascination with the slippery critters that has taken him from New York's Catskills to New Zealand. He'd better not cross paths with our own Andrew Zimmern, who's likely to snatch Prosek's favorite animal and have it for supper .

Cellmates revisited

John McCain's years in a war camp are well known, but less has been documented about Ernie Brace, the longest-serving civilian prisoner during the Vietnam conflict. Both Brace and McCain share their experiences, including the time they spent in neighboring cells, in an emotionally gripping episode of "Locked Up Abroad" (8 p.m., National Geographic Channel).

It's showtime!

A show choir from La Crosse, Wis., takes center stage in "Off Pitch" (9 p.m., VH1), a new series that attempts to be a real-life "Glee." We're game — unless the kids' mortal enemy is a shop teacher named Stu Stravester.
