Runs the world

Beyoncé is keeping us on our toes. The release of "Homecoming," a self-directed documentary about her instantly iconic Coachella performance, was announced just a little more than a week ago, creating even more buzz in the Beyhive. The trailer, which features sound bites from Maya Angelou, suggests the concert more than lived up to the hype.

Invention convention

Patrick Stewart, who could make the opening of the bodega sound as regal as the crowning of a new king, narrates "Breakthrough: The Ideas That Changed the World," a six-part series that looks at objects that altered our way of living. The first episode travels back nearly 6,000 years to zoom in on the origins of the telescope. The talking heads do an impressive job of keeping up with Stewart's breathless excitement.
