As usual, "Wolf Like Me" and "Young Liars" were the highlights along with the new one "Repetition."

In my interview with Kyp Malone to preview last night and tonight's shows at First Avenue, I asked the TV on the Radio singer/guitarist if playing "Wolf Like Me" and "Young Liars" is as visceral an experience for the band from night to night as it is for fans. "Depends on the night," he replied.

Surely, last night was one of those nights. At least, I've yet to experience a TVOTR concert where those songs didn't leave the club burning. They certainly didn't fizzle on the opening night of a not-quite-sold-out two-night stand. You can probably add the new Fugazi-like rocker "Repetition" to the list of forever-thrilling moments at a TVOTR show, too. As I said in the full review of the concert, the band actually skipped "No Future" and "Keep Your Heart," which I thought were the two best songs on the lukewarmly received new album going into Tuesday's show. "Repetition" rose to the top after the show, but I still hope they play those ones tonight.

Here's the full set list, with a couple titles that didn't compute :

Halfway Home / Caffeinated Consciousness / ?? / Blues From Down Here / Will Do / New Cannonball Blues / Province / ?? / Young Liars / Red Dress / Staring at the Sun / Repetition / Wolf Like Me ENCORE: I Was a Lover / Forgotten / Dancing Choose / Satellite
