Talk about a quickie.

TV funnyman Dave Chappelle is doing a rare comedy concert in Minneapolis Thursday, as in tomorrow, at the State Theatre on Hennepin Avenue.

The 9 p.m. Aug. 2 show was announced Wednesday afternoon, 30 hours before showtime. Tickets are expected to sell out very quickly, as they have elsewhere where he has done these guerrilla concerts.

Chappelle had a highly successful three-year run of his eponymous show on Comedy Central starting in 2003. He famously, and abruptly quit the business when TV officials offered him a contract that he considered mind-bogglingly rich.

Chappelle, instead, dropped out of sight. He was spotted in South Africa, where he was on a reflective, self-finding trip.

Chappelle will perform at 9 p.m. Aug. 2, at the State Theatre, 805 Hennepin Av. S. Tickets, at $54, go on sale at 4-6 p.m. Wednesday (today). 1-800-745-3000, online or in person at the Orpheum Theatre box office, 910 Hennepin Av. S.
