Top-seeded Hopkins scored nine runs in the first inning to propel past third-seeded Minneapolis Southwest 14-3 in four innings on Tuesday in the Class 4A, Section 6 softball championship game. The Royals return to the state tournament for the first time since 2017.
Signe Dohse hit two home runs, a double and single and had four RBI for Hopkins. She also struck out 10 in a one-hitter.
The Lakers got on the board first with a run in the first inning, but were quickly forced to play catch up. They got two runs in the third inning.
Lauren Granger had two home runs for Hopkins and five RBI.
Megan Smith had the only Lakers hit and one RBI.
Chanhassen 1, Eden Prairie 0: Sydney Schwartz pitched a perfect game with 10 strikeouts to lead the top-seeded Storm past the sixth-seeded Eagles in the winners' bracket final. Schwartz also had a double, single and drove in the game's lone run.
Lakeville North 7, Farmington 2: Alexis Haglund had two hits and five RBI and struck out nine over seven innings to lead the second-seeded Panthers past the fifth-seeded Tigers in the Class 4A, Section 1 winners' bracket final. Jordan Ahrenstorff had two hits and two runs scored and McKinley Malecha had one hit, one RBI and two runs scored for the Panthers.
Rogers 10, Elk River 6: The second-seeded Royals scored eight runs in the second inning to defeat the host and top-seeded Elks. Grace Mammen struck out eight in seven innings and had one hit and two RBI. Kenzie Jones had two hits, one RBI and one run scored, Kalista Kragt had one hit and two runs scored and Paige Vreeman and Sara Kemmetmueller had two runs scored each for the Royals. Avery Hillis had two hits, three RBI and one run scored for the Elks.
