Lynne Freese scored 2 minutes, 41 seconds into overtime to give Lakeville North a 2-1 upset victory over Class 2A, No. 5 Centennial in the semifinals of the Schwan's Cup Gold Division. She beat Cougars goaltender Kristen Peck with four seconds left on a power play.

Kallie Schneider stopped 23 shots, including three in overtime for the Panthers.

Kate Winiecki got the scoring started 55 seconds into the game. She had the only assist on Freese's game-winning goal.

Marija Almich tied the score at 1-1 at the 8:48 mark of the second period for the Cougars.

St. Francis 3, Owatonna 0: Sophia Zebro had a hat trick to lead the Saints to an upset of the Class 1A, No. 19 Huskies in the consolation semifinals of the Schwan's Cup Bronze Division. Rachel Miller stopped 17 shots for the shutout.

Eden Prairie 4, Eagan 2: Naomi Rogge scored two goals to lead the Class 2A, No. 3 Eagles past the No. 16 Wildcats in the first round of the Mid-Winter Meltdown in Eden Prairie. Sammie Morton and Sydney Henrichs also scored for the Eagles. Taylor Anderson and Bella Weaver scored goals in the final 2:30 for the Wildcats.

Benilde-St. Margaret's 2, Wayzata 1: Maria DeCesare and Sally Calengor scored 2:21 apart in the second period to lead the Knights to an upset of the Class 2A, No. 12 Trojans in the first round of the Mid-Winter Meltdown. Maddie McCollins got the Trojans to within a goal with 7:12 left in the game on the power play.

Boys' hockey

St. Paul Johnson 3, Eagan 1: The Governors jumped out to a 3-0 first period lead and held off the Wildcats in the semifinals of the South St. Paul Premier tournament. Isaac Moberg got the Governors on the board 14 seconds into the game. Luke Moberg and Luke Hefferman scored 1:34 apart late in the first period for a three-goal Governors lead. Johnny Meiers got the Wildcats on the board 4:07 into the second period. Ezra Weintzweig stopped 22 shots for the Governors.

Hopkins 2, New Prague 1: Connor Staack scored 5:20 into the third period to give the Royals the victory over the Class 1A, No. 18 Trojans in the consolation semifinals of the South St. Paul Premier tournament. Bobby Wilson stopped 31 shots, including 15 in the third period, for the Royals. Carter Johnson got the Royals on the board at 11:18 of the first period. Logan Reger tied the score for the Trojans at 9:29 of the second period.

Luverne 4, Hastings 1: The Raiders scored first and had a large shots on goal advantage, but surrendered four unanswered goals to lose a consolation semifinal in the South St. Paul Premier tournament. Colin Sieh scored with 57 seconds left in the first period for the Raiders. The Raiders carried a 20-13 edge in shots on goal over the second and third periods. Chris Jelken had a goal and two assists and Nick Harder had a goal and an assist to lead the Cardinals.

Champlin Park 5, Eastview 3: Keegan Bauman broke a 3-3 tie with 5:07 left in the game to give the Rebels a victory over the host Lightning. Bauman also scored midway through the second period and added an empty-net tally for his hat trick. Derek Roberts and Samuel Lee also scored for the Rebels. The Lightning scored three straight goals over a span of 9:01 in the third period to tie the score. Max Herzog, Jesse Fan and Tyler Kukowski scored for the Lightning. Brennan Boynton stopped 43 shots for the Rebels. The Lightning finished with a 46-20 edge in shots on goal.
