Rose's late FTs lift Memphis over USC • NO 2 MEMPHIS 62, NO. 24 USC 58 (OT): Derrick Rose made three free throws in overtime and No. 2 Memphis beat No. 24 Southern California 62-58 on Tuesday night in the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden in New York. The Tigers (7-0) managed to win despite playing a game more toward the pace Southern California wanted. Robert Dozier had 13 points for Memphis. O.J. Mayo led the Trojans (6-3) with 16 .

NO. 1 NORTH CAROLINA 106, PENN 71: North Carolina might not want to wait another 50 years to play in Philadelphia's famed Palestra. Tyler Hansbrough scored 29 points, Danny Green had 19 and the Tar Heels easily held off the overmatched Quakers (2-7). The Tar Heels, coming off an 86-77 win over Kentucky, are 8-0 for the first time since the 1998-99 season. Tyler Bernardini led Penn with a career-high 26 points.

NO 10 TENNESSEE 76, CHATTANOOGA 70: Chris Lofton had 16 points, JaJuan Smith added 13 and the Vols (8-1) survived a scare to beat the host Mocs (4-4).

NORTH DAKOTA 74, MARY 55: Ervin Youmans scored 21 points on 8-for-9 shooting from the field to lead the Sioux (4-3) over the Marauders (2-4) in Bismarck, N.D.

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

Badgers rip Panthers • WISCONSIN 79, WIS.-MILWAUKEE 59: Janese Banks scored 23 points and the defense of the Badgers (4-3) clamped down in the second half to beat the Panthers (2-4).

NO. 25 OKLAHOMA STATE 85, WICHITA STATE 39: Andrea Riley scored 22 points and the Cowgirls (8-0) beat the Shockers (3-5) in Stillwater, Okla., in their return to the rankings for the first time in 11 years.

• Duke's Martynas Pocius will have season-ending surgery on his left ankle. The junior reserve averaged four points and 2.5 rebounds.
