A semitrailer truck struck and killed a pedestrian on Interstate 35 in east-central Minnesota overnight, authorities said.
The incident occurred about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday about 10 miles north of Sandstone. The pedestrian, 35-year-old Tina M. Rushmeyer, of Pine City, died at the scene. She was walking away from a vehicle that stalled partly inside a lane of traffic when she was struck, the State Patrol said.
The truck driver, who was not hurt, was identified as Scott M. Madison, of Cottage Grove.
Authorities have yet to disclose the circumstances that led to the woman's death on northbound I-35, a few miles south of Willow River.
