A teen driver slammed a pickup truck into a sporting goods store early Sunday afternoon in Woodbury, sending nearly the entire vehicle into the building and injuring five people, authorities said.

The crash occurred shortly after 1:30 p.m. at the Play It Again Sports outlet at 1705 Weir Drive, just south of Valley Creek Road and west of Interstate 494, according to police spokeswoman Michelle Okada.

Five people were treated at the scene, with three taken to Regions Hospital for "mostly precautionary" reasons, Okada said.

The vehicle stopped with only its back wheels outside the front of the store, Okada said.

An adult was in the vehicle with the teen, the spokeswoman said. No citation has been issued, and Okada did not have information yet for why the vehicle hit the store.
