A man who was shot in Eden Prairie remains hospitalized after what police say was an attempted robbery.

Police said Monday that the 58-year-old man from River Falls, Wis., who was shot at 5 a.m. Saturday next to a delivery truck in the Jerry's Foods parking lot remains hospitalized at Hennepin County Medical Center with severe head trauma and a gunshot wound to his head.

The driver, who hasn't been named, was shot outside the grocery store in the 9600 block of Anderson Lakes Parkway. Within about an hour, police arrested a 28-year-old Albertville man after the State Patrol found him walking along northbound Hwy. 169 and interviews determined he may have been involved in the shooting, according to Eden Prairie Police.

Investigators said Monday that the victim and suspect didn't know each other and that the shooting appeared to be an attempted robbery. A handgun believed to be used was found by investigators in the area of the shooting.

The suspect remains in Hennepin County jail awaiting possible charges for attempted second-degree murder, aggravated robbery and first-degree assault.
