A semitrailer truck driver was killed Friday afternoon when his truck collided with another semi truck on Hwy. 55 west of Eden Valley, Minn., according to the State Patrol.

Authorities said a Kenworth truck was stationary in the eastbound lane and waiting to turn left, just east of Lakewood Road, when a second Kenworth truck headed east slammed into it from behind. The accident occurred shortly after 3 p.m.

David A. Hofstadter, 57, of Burtrum, Minn., was killed. The other driver, Thomas J. Haag, 73, of Eden Valley, was not injured.

Road conditions were dry at the time of the collision and alcohol was not a factor, according to the State Patrol.
