A 45-year-old Inver Grove Heights man driving a service truck at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was charged with drunk driving and failing to yield to an airplane.

John Korab, 54, was arrested on Thursday night after failing a sobriety test. A preliminary breath test showed he had a blood-alcohol level of .22 percent, said Melissa Scovronski, spokeswoman for the airport. The legal limit to drive is .08 percent.

Scovronski said a plane at Terminal 2 (the Humphrey Terminal) had pushed back about 50 feet from the gate when it was forced to stop because Korab, who was driving on a service road, failed to yield. "They wanted to avoid a collision," she said. No one was injured in the incident, which occurred at about 10:15 p.m.

After viewing a video of the incident, airport police found Korab at an area off Post Road known as the fuel farm, Scovronski said. He was taken to Hennepin County jail and was released later.

Public records show Korab was convicted of a misdemeanor DWI charge in 2008. MSP rules require drivers on the airport grounds to have a valid driver's license.
