Improving weather will favor travelers over much of nation today, one of theyear's busiest on highways and airways. The blizzard that gripped the central and northern Plains late last week willbe a matter of history, although cleanup will continue in areas crossed byinterstate highways I-80, I-90, I-94 and I-29.

What little remains of that big storm will spread snow showers with lightamounts of snow over the upper Mississippi Valley to the Great Lakes and OhioValley. Travelers through Chicago, Detroit and Cleveland, to name a few, willfind some slippery pavement. Lower visibility at the airports could delayflights.

In the East, dry, rather mild weather will favor travelers from themid-Atlantic to southern New England. Rain lingering farther north will endduring the day in Boston.

Other areas of dry, settled weather with good visibility and dry pavement willdominate the South Central and Southeast states, along with the IntermountainWest and much of the West Coast. Wayfarers will benefit accordingly.

Weakening low pressure off northern California will trigger spotty rain overthe northern half of the Golden State into western Oregon.
