Toyota hybrid pickup still alive

As noted in this column previously, Toyota may still be moving forward with plans to build the small A-BAT pickup truck, according to suppliers who have been asked to bid on making parts for the truck, Automotive News reports. The parts-bidding process lets Toyota see whether it could make a profit on the vehicle, which would be available - if built of course - in four-cylinder and hybrid versions. The A-Bat, which would slot beneath the Tacoma in Toyota's lineup, could share a car chassis with the Camry hybrid and the redesigned Prius. No word on if and when such a truck would actually be for sale. Also, no word yet on price.

Buick Enclave: Upscale utility

Check this section tomorrow (Sunday) for a profile of the 2009 version of Buick's luxury SUV, the seven-passenger Enclave CXL. As Motor Matters reports, Buick officials say that the cool, sleek sport-ute is "a combination of style and grace with elegance and precision." Base MSRP for the Enclave is $38,440.
