There's a penny carnival for kids coming next month in Prior Lake.

The event is June 13 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Lakefront Park, aimed at children ages 15 and under.

To play each game, it will cost between two and six pennies. No registration is required

An information session for people interested in becoming mentors will be offered Tuesday at the Wescott Library, 1340 Wescott Road..

Prospective mentors will learn more about the children awaiting a mentor, the volunteer screening process and other details of Kids 'n Kinship, an Apple Valley-based mentoring program. Applications will be available at the session, which will go from 6 to 6:45 p.m.

Kids 'n Kinship is looking for experienced volunteers "to provide support, encouragement and friendship to a child or youth," as well as academic help.

Residents can now listen to local World War II veterans' stories on the Scott County Historical Society's website.

These stories were used to create an award-winning exhibit and published in the book "Never Forgotten: Stories of Scott County World War II Veterans."

Iraq and Afghanistan war veteran and Fox News contributor Pete Hegseth will be the featured speaker at the Republican Seniors of Minnesota meeting Tuesday. In addition, state auditor candidate Randy Gilbert and U.S. House candidates Doug Daggett and Aaron Miller plan to attend.

The Republican Seniors meet on the first Tuesday of each month at Poor Richard's Commonhouse, 8301 Normandale Blvd, Bloomington. They gather at 10 a.m. for coffee and a meeting, then hear from the speakers, then have lunch.
