What a whopper this was. Record-setting December snowfalls were reportedfrom West Virginia to southern New Jersey, not to mention the 2 feet of snowthat fell on Long Island. This is definitely one for the history books, whichwill be used as a benchmark for all other storms that might hit the EasternSeaboard during the middle of December.Have there been other worse storms in the mid-Atlantic? Of course, but most ofthe giants have hit in January or February. The blizzard that occurred inJanuary 1996 is one example, and the more recent February blizzard of 2003 isanother.
