Your wish is their command

Why wish for one genie, when you can have two? "Shimmer and Shine," the animated series aimed at preschoolers, returns for a second season with the twins going up against a power-hungry sorceress voiced by "Mean Girls" graduate Lacey Chabert. In the one-hour premiere, the siblings take her on a magic carpet race.

Mugging for the camera

It's a minor injustice that Jerry Seinfeld doesn't have his own brand at Starbucks, considering that "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee" has given me more of a java jones than anything they're serving on morning talk shows. The new season features "SNL" creator Lorne Michaels, director Judd Apatow, Margaret Cho and John Oliver who, we can only assume, will be ordering tea.

Livin' single

Filmmaker Daphne McWilliams explores the challenges facing boys being raised by a single mother for "In a Perfect World," a highly personal documentary in that McWilliams is herself raising a youngster without his father in the picture. McWilliams, a producer for "Slavery By Another Name" and "4 Little Girls," makes her directorial debut.
