Sure, every British crime drama looks like it was filmed on the same grimy streets, but most of them are good bloody fun. The new season of "Ripper Street" finds our hero Edmund Reid (Matthew Macfadyen) returning to Whitechapel in 1897 to discover that an old friend is scheduled to be hanged for murder. Meanwhile, Inspector Bennet Drake (Jerome Flynn) has been promoted. Maybe he can finally do something about the haphazard nature of the garbage pickup.
