Patting yourself on the back

"Watch What Happens: Live," the show that celebrates its network's own programming, goes one step further with "The Bravos," an awards episode with such categories as "most socially driven," "sorry not sorry" and "cutest couple." Mariah Carey will receive the Giving Me Life Achievement Awards, which may eventually be as coveted as a Peabody.

Some kind of trainer

Joe Berlinger, the man behind the documentary "Metallica: Some Kind of Monster," looks at a businessman who marches to his own beat in "Tony Robbins: I Am Not Your Guru." The film dissects the lifestyle coach's methods during one of his intense, intimate workshops in Florida.

Trump card

When it comes to rounding up laughs at this year's political conventions, "The Daily Show" has some competition. "Real Time With Bill Maher" will offer an abbreviated version of its long-running program on the Wednesday and Thursday of both assemblies, with Maher moderating an all-star panel. Don't expect Donald Trump, who once sued Maher after the comic suggested that he was the spawn of a orangutan, to stop by the studio.
