The beautiful ones

Tributes to Prince abound throughout the weekend, most notably with several airings of his iconic film "Purple Rain" (8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Saturday; noon and 8 p.m. Sunday, VH1). For something a little more intimate, check out his sit-down with a fellow royal at Paisley Park in a 1996 episode of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" (7 p.m. Saturday, OWN).

How sweet it is

It's always possible that Beyoncé's supersecret project, "Lemonade," is the artist's love letter to Minute Maid. More likely, it's a follow-up to her previous documentary, "Life Is But a Dream," further celebrating music's most unpredictable and business-savvy force. She can sing a little, too. Her Formation World Tour comes to the Twin Cities on May 23.

Stranger in a strange land

TBS' "Totally Biased With W. Kamau Bell," a nonconfrontational approach to race topics, didn't spark enough conversation — or audience interest. Perhaps Bell, a talented comedian, will fare better with "United Shades of America," an eight-part series in which the host explores various subcultures, starting with the Ku Klux Klan.

9 p.m. Sunday, CNN

Underappreciated at work

Being sandwiched between current Emmy champs "Game of Thrones" and "Veep" is a mixed blessing. On the one hand, "Silicon Valley," now entering its third season, is probably getting eyeballs that might not normally be drawn to a series without any big names. On the other, the show hasn't gotten the praise it deserves for its ability to skewer both start-up companies and offices in general.
