Life is a carnival

Rebecca Romijn returns as host for Season 3 of "Skin Wars," the series that insists body painting is a perfectly natural form of competition. This year's field includes a former burlesque dancer, a veteran of the Mexican circus and a guy who moonlights as Spanky the Clown. This is either the wackiest season yet or the new cast of "American Horror Story: Freak Show."

Mother lode

Jill Spivack, who had done groundbreaking work in helping parents of children with sleep problems, focuses on the waking hours in "There Goes the Motherhood," a new series about six L.A. parents dying to be part of the psychotherapist's mommy group, which has become the hottest ticket since Leonardo DiCaprio announced an opening in his posse.

Up in smoke

Ilana Glazer, one half of "Broad City," should have inhaled a higher grade of inspiration before booking a flight on "Time Traveling Bong," a new series in which numerous drug trips lead to encounters with pilgrims, dinosaurs and cave men. Predictable jokes and a lack of focus result in a less than excellent adventure.
