One of the hardest things to do at a beer fest is to choose your favorite brew. For this very reason I decided to compile a small list of some of my favorites. Without further ado, here are my top five beers from All Pints North:
#5 Ginger Pale Ale from Barley John's Brewpub – Ginger and beer? Yes please. The ginger was not overpowering and was a nice addition to the summer friendly, and easy drinking Pale Ale.
#4 Park Point Pilsener from Fitger's Brewhouse – Sometimes there is nothing better than a nice clean Pilsener on a warm summer day, and no one knows a good Pilsener better than Dave Hoops. Aside from Schell's, this is probably the best local example I've tried.
#3 Coconut Milk Stout from Dangerous Man Brewing – Velvety coconut milk meets chocolatey Stout. The crew at Dangerous Man concocted one of the better Milk Stouts I've had in a while.
#2 Imperial Wit from Blacklist Brewing – By far the biggest surprise at All Pints North. Blacklist did not fail to impress with this one—chock full of kaffir lime, citrusy goodness, this wheat-based brew was unique and well crafted to the point where I may just crave it for the rest of the summer.
#1 Clementine Big Jim from Northbound Smokehouse Brewpub – I've never had a fruit infused IPA quite like this one. A combination of grapefruit and clementine zest gave one of the better local IPA's a nice citrusy punch without overdoing it on the fruit.
Attendance at this year's event was double so if you are planning to go next year be sure to plan ahead. This one is quickly becoming one the best summer events around the state.
