Q: How long have you been in the hospitality industry?

A: I was raised in this business -- it's in my blood. I spent much of my childhood in bars and restaurants.

Q: What was your professional background before opening the Kitty Cat Klub in 2004?

A: Besides working at other family-run places, I also ran promotions for a record label in the '90s called October Records started by Steven "Funkytown" Greenberg and John Fields, who went on to produce the Jonas Brothers and a million other huge bands. After that I became a producer at a commercial music house called Asche & Spencer.

Q: What other bars do you frequent in the Twin Cities?

A: I love a bar with a freak-show element, so I'd have to say the Spot Bar on Randolph Avenue in St. Paul would be a top pick. Every time I go there, something sort of insane is going on. Also, they have pinball machines!

Q: What do you do when you're not running the Klub?

A: I work every day, so I don't exactly have a huge social life, but I enjoy time with my wife, Colleen, and two smelly dogs. I also cook a bit and find the occasional moment to write a hilarious song.

Q: What's your favorite drink?

A: Sazerac, the official drink of New Orleans. It's a nuanced mix of rye, Herbsaint, Peychaud's bitters, simple syrup, water and a lemon twist.JAHNA PELOQUIN
