LOS ANGELES- I used to have an editor who would tease me about my obsession with veteran performers (aka "old guys"). I only wish she would have been sitting beside me Thursday night when 85-year-old Tony Bennett gave an intimate concert for about 150 people here at the TV Critics Press Tour. It was the first time I've seen Bennett in concert, but those I talked to that have been to previous shows said he's never sounded better.

LIke other veterans, Bennett has a work ethic and a respect for the audience that too many contemporary artists forget. Surprisingly, he went out of his way to praise Lady Gaga for her commitment to fans and even dedicated "The Good Life" to her.

I had a chance to ask Bennett why he always wears suits, even when he's recording in the studio. Why not just slip on a t-shirt and a hoodie? "Because I'm civilized," he said.

Bennett's son, Danny, said that while there's no plans for a "Duets III," he and his dad are working on a Spanish version of "Duets II" with new artists. Pops said he's still hoping to record an entire album with Stevie Wonder.

And who is the one artist the Bennetts wanted for "Duets II," but it didn't work out? Eric Clapton.

Here's the setlist:

1) Watch What Happens

2) They All Laughed

3) Maybe This Time

4) I Got Rhythm

5) The Way You Look Tonight

6) The Good Life

7) For Once In My Life

8) I Left My Heart in San Francisco

9) The Best is Yet to Come

10) How Do You Keep The Music Playing?
