Tomlinson leaves Winter Park, will visit Jets

The free-agent running back ducked into a waiting limo outside Winter Park at about 5:15 p.m. with a purple jersey in his hand. But that did not mean a deal was done.

A group of reporters standing outside the Vikings' Winter Park facility just saw running back LaDainian Tomlinson shake hands with Pro Scout Jeff Robinson (it was 5:10 p.m.) and then get into a waiting limousine. The interesting thing was that Tomlinson had a purple Vikings jersey in his hand.

But that did not mean a deal had been reached after a day of meetings with Vikings officials.

Jim Trotter of Sports Illustrated tweeted at 5:26 p.m. that he just spoke to Tomlinson and that while "he really liked what he heard from the Vikings," he will visit with the New York Jets on Friday. Tomlinson said he "hasn't been recruited since high school and wants to see what teams have to say." He also told Trotter he has tentative visits elsewhere next week. Peter King, also of SI, reported those teams are Philadelphia and New Orleans.

However, Tomlinson told Trotter he might make up his mind on a team this weekend.

Update: Tomlinson told Trotter the Vikings really wowed him adn that he could see himself playing in Minnesota.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
