Tom Brokaw's book "The Greatest Generation" helped us all look at our Depression era, WWII vet friends, parents and grandparents in a different light. His new book, "The Time of Our Lives: A Conversation About America," might make us all take another look at the waning greatness of America.

The book, to be published on Nov. 1 by Random House, presents the stories of American families spanning four generations. It also asks the reader to get involved in pushing America back in the right direction.

"How will future generations think of us?" Brokaw asks. "What personal values and public citizenship commitments will we leave them?"

Brokaw will bring his South Dakota practicality and his provocative questions to the Twin Cities next month. He'll be at the Costco in St.Louis Park at 4 p.m. Nov. 8, and then at the Westminster Town Hall Forum in downtown Minneapolis at 7 p.m.
