Todd Boss, Cheryl Strayed among booksellers choice winners

The 2012 Midwest Booksellers Choice Awards will be presented in October in Minneapolis.

Five Midwestern authors will be honored in October when the annual Midwest Booksellers Choice Awards are presented at the annual Heartland Fall Forum convention in Minneapolis.The winners are: Fiction: Chad Harbach, "The Art of Fielding." Harbach's debut novel is set on the campus of a small college in Wisconsin, the site of baseball angst, romance and love gone right and wrong.

Non-fiction: Cheryl Strayed, "Wild." Strayed, who grew up near McGregor, Minn., and graduated from the University of Minnesota, writes about walking the Pacific Crest Trail while trying to recover from her mother's death and other heartbreak.

Poetry: Todd Boss, "Pitch." The second collection of poetry from Boss, who lives in St. Paul.

Chidlren's literature:Brian Selznick, "Wonderstruck." The story of two kids, fifty years apart, by a Caldecott Award-winning author/illustrator.

Children's picture book: Loren Long, "Otis and the Tornado." The second pictuer book about Otis, the friendly farm tractor.

Booksellers throughout the region nominated their favorite titles and then voted on the top nominations.
