Today's Severe Thunderstorm Outlook

The severe weather that impacted people across the southern Plains on Sundaywill shift eastward into the Deep South and Tennessee Valley today. An area oflow pressure will advance northeastward from Missouri into the Ohio Valleysparking strong thunderstorms from eastern Missouri into Indiana and Kentucky.These storms will bring the threat for flooding downpours, damaging winds,large hail and isolated tornadoes to the cities of Cape Girardeau, Louisvilleand Nashville.

Farther south, warm, moist flow off the Gulf of Mexico will interact with afrontal boundary sparking more dangerous storms. These storms will impactAlabama and Mississippi this morning before spreading eastward into Georgia andnorthern Florida this afternoon and into early tonight. These storms will bringthe potential for wind gusts over 50 mph and large hail, as well as an isolatedtornado. The greatest threat for tornadoes will be this afternoon and thisevening.
