Today at the Capitol

Dayton (repeatedly) on the stump, Republicans doing who knows what.

April 14, 2011 at 1:09PM

Gov. Mark Dayton will be speechifying all over the place today.

First thing, he planned to deliver opening remarks at the Minnesota High Tech Association's spring conference in Minneapolis. At noon, he's scheduled to speak at a LGBT rally for equality on the Capitol Mall. Then it's on to a Humboldt High School mentorship program at a St. Paul restaurant. He wraps up with a speech at the Association of Metropolitan Cities' annual meeting in St. Paul.

It's fair to assume that he'll do some renewed bashing of Republican budget proposals at at least some of those venues.

As for the Republicans who run the Legislature, they'll be getting deep into the weeds of the budget with no fewer than three conference committees drill down to reconcile the differences between House and Senate bills. On the table: taxes, higher education and health and human services.

Both chambers will be in session, the Senate at 11 a.m., the House at 3 p.m.

FILE -- A rent deposit slot at an apartment complex in Tucker, Ga., on July 21, 2020. As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
