Timing the Pacific Northwest Storm Train

A big Pacific storm will approach the Northwest late today, and an even morepotent storm system will approach by late Tuesday.With the first storm, showers over the Pacific Northwest coast will become asteadier rain this afternoon and this evening. Snow will also pick up inintensity over the Cascades this afternoon through tonight. Up to a foot ofsnow will fall over the mountains through tonight.

The next storm will approach late Tuesday. It will spread more heavy rain overthe Pacific Northwest coast, potentially creating some flooding problems.

More heavy snow will thump the Cascades as well as the northern Rockies onWednesday.

The second storm will also blast the Pacific Northwest coast with high windsthat could be strong enough to cut power to some communities and down trees,especially Tuesday night.
