MIKE ZIMMER TIMELINE

Nov. 1: Zimmer has his first eye surgery, to fix a torn retina, the day after an ugly road loss in Chicago, during which he scratched his right eye.

April 17: Zimmer undergoes another surgery. Days later, at a follow-up appointment, doctors discover a cataract, leading to another surgery.

May 20: Speaking at his youth football camp, he reveals he had "another little surgery" on his right eye, putting the total at eight surgeries.

May 22: The Vikings announce Zimmer will take a few weeks off "to dedicate to recovering from eye surgery and restoring his health."
