Timberwolves lose Fort Wayne as D-League affiliate

September 10, 2015 at 12:16PM

The Indiana Pacers have purchased the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA's Development League, a move that impacts the Timberwolves.

Minnesota was one of several teams with an affiliation with the Mad Ants last season. The Pacers' purchase means all 19 D-League teams are affiliated with an NBA team.

If the Wolves want to send a player to the D-League, it will come as part of the flexible assignment system put in place last year. The player would go to whichever D-League team is willing to accept him, and the Wolves would have limited say how he's used.
