Boys' hockey

Maple Grove 2, Hill-Murray 0: Goalie Ethan Haider stopped all 24 shots he faced to lead the No. 11 Crimson to an upset win over the Pioneers, the No. 1 team in Class 2A. Justin Kelley put the Crimson on the board in the second period off a power-play goal, assisted by Hunter House and Sam Huff. Kelley added an empty-net goal to finish the game. Goalie Jake Begley stopped 19 of 20 shots for the Pioneers.

Delano 8, St. Cloud Cathedral 4: Tied 4-4 with 10 minutes remaining in the game, the Class 1A, No. 3 Tigers scored four unanswered goals to blow out the No. 5 Crusaders at home. The Tigers' Ben Meyers added to his state-leading 70 points with three goals and two assists. Kyle Ylitalo scored twice for the Tigers, while Garrett Pinoniemi, Gabe Halonen and Brian Halonen had a goal apiece. Jake VanHalbeck, Michael Spethmann, Jackson Savoie and Reagan Garden scored for the Crusaders.

Chaska 4, Minneapolis 3 (OT): Mike Koster scored the game-winner 2:52 into overtime to lead the visiting Hawks over the Novas. Parker Hanson, Shane Lavelle and Nick Olmscheid gave the Hawks a 3-0 lead into the second period, before the Novas' Jake Hale, Ben Murray and Tuli Eisenbeis scored to tie the game.

Edina 6, Minnetonka 3: Tied 2-2 entering the third period, the Class 2A, No. 4 Hornets scored four goals to rout the visiting Skippers. Bram Scheerer led the Hornets with two goals. Teammates Max Borst, Brett Chorske, Ben Brinkman and Sam Walker scored a goal apiece. T.J. Rogers, Bobby Brink and Andrew Hicks scored for the Skippers.

Prior Lake 3, Lakeville South 2 (OT): Preston Underhill scored the game-winner 2:07 into overtime to lead the Lakers over the visiting Cougars, ranked No. 16 in Class 2A. Jackson Jutting and Carter Collins gave the Lakers an early 2-0 lead. The Cougars tied the game on goals by Dawson Klein and Zach Bauer.

Girls' hockey

Hill-Murray 4, Blaine 4 (OT): Two of the top teams in Class 2A battled in an overtime thriller, yet the No. 2 Pioneers and the No. 5 Bengals finished the game tied. Emily Brown and Gina Rosvold scored in the first period to give the Bengals an early 2-0 lead. The Bengals outshot the Pioneers 18-1 in the period. Teammate Paige Beebe added another goal early in the second for a three-goal lead, before the Pioneers scored four unanswered goals to make it 4-3. Lindsey Featherstone, Nina Steigauf, Mariah Keopple and Haylee Blinkhorn scored for the Pioneers. Brown scored her second goal of the game late in the third to push the game into overtime.

Breck 3, St. Paul United 3 (OT): In Class 1A, the No. 2 Mustangs and the No. 3 United remained tied after overtime, despite a flurry of action late in the game. Grace Zumwinkle, a University of Minnesota commit, scored her 38th goal of the year to give the Mustangs an early lead. In the third period both teams combined for five goals on 24 shots, with Gabby Billing and Kendall Williamson scoring for the Mustangs, and Samantha Burke and Joie Phelps scoring for the United. It was Phelp's second goal of the period with a minute remaining that brought the game into overtime.

Blake 1, Centennial 0 (OT): The Class 1A, No. 1 Bears defeated the Class 2A, No. 8 Cougars on Maddie Tix's overtime winner. Anna Kruesel finished with 24 saves for the Bears. Mackenna Stoterau, in her first varsity game, finished with 33 saves for the Cougars.

Forest Lake 3, Cretin-Derham Hall 0: Josie Bothun stopped 23 shots for the shutout as the Class 2A, No. 12 Rangers defeated the No. 7 Raiders. Kayla Kasel scored twice for the Rangers, and Maddie Kolbow added another.

Jefferson 4, Benilde-St. Margaret's 3 (OT): Bailey Burton scored the game-winner in overtime to lead the Jaguars past the visiting Red Knights. Celena Rea scored twice to give the Jaguars an early lead, before Margaret Sexton, Sedona Brown and Aspen Konowalchuk answered for the Red Knights. Lucienne Bianchi scored for the Jaguars with five minutes remaining to send the game into overtime.

Boys' basketball

Champlin Park 99, Hopkins 79: The Rebels looked like the true No. 1 team in Class 4A in a decisive victory over the No. 6 Royals on the road. Lead by McKinley Wright's triple-double (27 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists), six players scored in double digits for the Rebels. Brian Smith and Marcus Hill finished with 16 apiece, Josiah Strong added 14, and Theo John and D.J. Hunter each had 12. The Royals were led by freshman Blaise Beauchamp with 23 points. Teammates Simon Wright and Ishmael El-Amin added 20 and 19, respectively.

Apple Valley 79, Eastview 54: Tre Jones scored 22 points to lead the Class 4A, No. 4 Eagles past the visiting Lightning. Mohamed Kone and Luke Martens added 13 and 11, respectively, for the Eagles. The Lightning were led by Mason Carpenter with 18, and Essam Ibrahim with 16.

Girls' basketball

Big Lake 61, Princeton 58 (OT): Paige Domyahn scored 15 points and Emma Anderson added 12 to lead the Hornets past the visiting Tigers. Teammates Annika Poe finished with 11 and Talyn McClaflin had 10. The Tigers' Julia Bjurman led all scorers with 23, while Maddie Nierngarten added 11.

East Ridge 61, Cretin-Derham Hall 53: Mariah Sexe scored 26 points to lead the Raptors past the visiting Raiders. Emma Stoehr added 13. The Raiders were led by Frannie Hottinger with 17, while Haley Moore and Autam Mendez added 11 and 10, respectively.
