The Minneapolis cooperative boys' hockey team upset Orono, the No. 2-ranked team in Class 1A, 3-2 on Thursday night at Parade Ice Garden.

Jacob Erickson had a hat trick, scoring all of his goals in the third period. The senior's third goal was shorthanded. Ben Murray assisted twice.

Lucas White made 22 saves as Orono outshot Minneapolis 24-19.

Dane Korsi scored twice for the Spartans. His second goal came with less than two minutes left in the third period after the goalie was pulled.

With 13 seconds left, Orono had a chance to tie it when there was a faceoff in the Minneapolis zone.

It was Orono's second loss in the past week. Blake beat the Spartans 3-2 on Saturday.

The Minneapolis boys' hockey team is open to players from all seven Minneapolis public schools.

Monticello 2, Rogers 1: Troy Dahlheimer scored twice to lead the Moose past the Royals. Tyler Klatt had 21 saves for Monticello. Aaron Schmidt scored Rogers' lone goal.

St. Michael-Albertville 9, North Branch 1: Sophomore Adam Flammang scored a hat trick to lead the Knights past the Vikings. Zach Sjelin added two more goals.

Girls' hockey

Blaine 3, Elk River/Zimmerman 2 (OT): Megan McKenzie scored the Bengals' game-winning goal 12 seconds into overtime with Gabby Rosenthal getting the assist.

Elk River/Zimmerman had a two-goal lead in the second period on goals from Madison Bizal and Reilly Springman.

Blaine tied the score with two goals in the third. The first was by Brityn Fussy, the second by Rosenthal.

Lakeville South 4, Burnsville 2: Josie Saufferer had a hat trick to lead the Cougars past the Blaze in a South Suburban Conference matchup. Emily Fischler also scored for the Cougars. Lyndsey Howard and Aubrey Nelvin scored for Burnsville.

Eastview 1, Farmington 0: In a game in which defense was the biggest factor, the Lightning prevailed. Eastview's Amelia Julian stopped all 26 shots on goal. Farmington's Abby Bollig made 22 saves but gave up a first-period goal to Nora Stepan.

Boys' basketball

Lakeville North 86, Eden Prairie 80: The Panthers, ranked No. 9 in Class 4A, beat the top-ranked Eagles on the road in Eden Prairie. The Eagles had been undefeated before the game. Tommy Jensen had 24 points to lead Lakeville North's offense. Tyler Lewko added 21 and Tyler Wahl 20. John Henry led the Eagles with 17.

Chaska 64, Buffalo 44: Cole Nicholson led the Hawks with 25 points as they extended their winning streak to seven games. Chaska, the No. 8-ranked team in Class 4A, will take on Eden Prairie next Wednesday.

Fridley 66, St. Paul Johnson 58: Jerome Cunningham had a game-high 21 points to lead the Tigers past the Governors. Nate Soto added 17. Shemar Tucker-Adams scored 20 points for the Governors.

Minnehaha Academy 82, Mayer Lutheran 69: Kaden Johnson led all scorers with 24 points to lead the Redhawks, ranked No. 1 in Class 2A, past the Crusaders, No. 5 team in Class 1A. Jalen Suggs scored 16 points. Baden Noennig had 19 points for Mayer Lutheran.
