Boys' hockey

Eden Prairie 2, Edina 1: Tim Piechowski and Nolan Sullivan scored early in the first period to give the Class 2A, No. 6 Eagles a lead over the No. 2 Hornets they would never relinquish. Mason Nevers scored for the Hornets near the end of the first for his team's only goal. Both goaltenders, the Eagles' Nick Wiencek and the Hornets' Josh Solomon, held the opposing team scoreless for the final two periods.

Lakeville North 3, Prior Lake 2 (OT): Blake Brandt scored two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to lead the Class 2A, No. 5 Panthers to a come-from-behind victory over the host Lakers. With the game scoreless entering the third period, the Lakers' Kevin Fellows and Hunter Totenhagen scored minutes apart for brief two-goal lead. Brandt's first goal put the Panthers on the board 13:48 into the third before Henry Enebak tied the game with just 10 seconds left. Brandt's second goal was scored 4:59 into overtime.

Burnsville 3, Shakopee 2 (OT): Daniel Sandvig's second goal of the game gave the Blaze an overtime win over the Sabers in a matchup of South Suburban teams. Tyler Smith also scored for the Blaze. Samuel Kreuser netted goals in both the first and second periods to give the Sabers a 2-0 lead.

Benilde-St. Margaret's 3, Wayzata 2: Even though the Red Knights were outshot 35-18 by the Trojans, including 15-6 in the third period, goalie Zach Everett came up with multiple stops down the stretch for the win. He finished with 33 saves. Brian Arnold and Nick Sims gave the Red Knights an early 2-0 lead, before the Trojans' Colin Schmidt scored back-to-back goals to tie the game. The Red Knights' Bronson McLeod scored the eventual game-winner midway through the third period.

Girls' hockey

Blake 3, Blaine 1: Sara McClanahan, Lucy Burton and Madeline Wethington scored goals in the second period as the Class 1A, No. 1 Bears defeated the Class 2A, No. 6 Bengals at home. The Bears' Olivia Bizal finished with 27 saves for the win. Megan McKenzie scored for the Bengals.

Proctor/Hermantown 4, Hibbing/Chisholm 1: In a battle of Class 1A teams, the No. 4 Mirage defeated the No. 11 Bluejackets on the road. Callie Hoff, Brionna Stafne, Abby Halverson and Olyvia Opsahl scored for the Mirage. Mallorie Iozzo scored for Hibbing/Chisholm.

Mound Westonka 5, Holy Family/Waconia 4 (OT): Liz Schepers' overtime goal capped her four-goal night as the White Hawks skated past the Wildfire. Ellie Burris scored the only other goal for the White Hawks, while goalie Emma Polusny stopped 42 shots for the win. Sadie Long, Caitlin Rock, Molly Garin and Lauren Hickey scored for the Wildfire.

Boys' basketball

Wayzata 72, Armstrong 58: Gavin Baumgartner scored 22 points and Bryce Hempel added 12 to lead the Class 4A, No. 4 Trojans past the host Falcons. Isaiah Rollins led the Falcons with 16, while Race Thompson and Davonte Saeed-El added 13 apiece.

Girls' basketball

Apple Valley 89, Burnsville 50: Brynne Rolland scored 28 points and Lyndsey Robson added 21 as the Class 4A, No. 4 Eagles defeated the host Blaze. Emma Fee led the Blaze with 22, and Dakota Cox added 12.

Lakeville North 48, Eastview 45: Temi Carda scored 19 points to lead the Class 4A, No. 5 Panthers past the host Lightning. Teammate Caitlyn Peterson added 12. The Lightning were led by Allie Pickrain with 13 and Rachel Ranke with 11. The Panthers held the Lightning to just 11 points in the first half.
