With all the traffic expected in downtown Minneapolis Thursday night, the Minnesota Department of Transportation has delayed the closure of the westbound lanes of I-94 through the Lowry Hill Tunnel until 11 p.m.
The closure was originally to go into effect at 10 p.m., but accommodate fans leaving the Vikings and Gophers football games the agency pushed back the the closure by an hour.
When the lanes close at 11, traffic can use the Prohibited Vehicle route via Hennepin/Lyndale Avenues, or take I-35W south to Crosstown west to north Hwy. 100.
The tunnel is scheduled to reopen at 5 a.m. Friday. During the closure, all eastbound lanes on I-94 will remain open.
