Thunderstorms Douse the South

July 2, 2010 at 7:25PM

Alex is no more. All that is left is a weak area of low pressure over centralMexico. The storm wasn't so feeble, however, when it roared in off the Gulf ofMexico Wednesday night with winds topping 100 miles per hour. Plus, Monterrey,Mexico, picked up a whopping 18 inches of rain during midweek. Tell me thathasn't caused some bad flooding. So what's left? Well, a lot of tropical moisture continues to flow in off theGulf of Mexico. This has and will continue to produce very heavy showers andthunderstorms through the South during the weekend. Some of the downpours willalso drift northward into the central Plains with time.
