Three thoughts after the Twins' win over Detroit
HUGHES' HONESTY: Phil Hughes felt his stuff was , ``deteriorating" in the seventh inning and pulled himself from the game. That was a shocker but Twins manager Ron Gardenhire appreciated the honestly. One thing though: What would the reaction had been if Hughes pulled himself from game as a Yankee?
FIRE ALARM: There was a fire in a janitorial closet that forced the alarm system to come on in the ninth innings. When that happens, the PA system and music gets shut down. It was wonderful, listening to the sounds of baseball and just the fans' reaction to plays. A couple times, the scoreboard flashed messages for fans to cheer, but a couple times they cheered without being prodded. That's my one complaint about baseball games. The fans shouldn't be told when and how to cheer all the time.
SUZUKI: He was called, Kurt Clutch when he played at Cal State-Fullerton. And he's been clutch for the Twins, going 7-for-17 with runners in scoring position and two outs. It's amazing where some of the Twins' offense is coming from.
