Here are three thoughts following the Twins' loss to the Marlins:
1. THINGS GO HAYWIRE FOR CORREIA: The game can be cruel sometimes. Kevin Correia looked in control of the Marlins until one out in the sixth when Miami loaded the bases and scored two runs. He gave up a single to Ed Lucas. He wanted to be careful with Giancarlo Stanton and ended up walking him. No problem there. But Correia failed to make the big pitch he needed to get out of the inning. Two singles later, Miami led 2-1. ``You are not going to cruise through every inning," Correia said. ``It's a matter of limiting the damage. It's frustrating giving up a lead right there."
2. JOSE FERNANDEZ IS THE REAL DEAL: He faced the Twins twice this season and competed well both times. He hit 98 miles an hour on the radar gun in the first inning and has a nice curveball too. Fernandez, born in Santa Clara, Cuba, was caught three times while trying to defect but finally succeeded in 2008. He went to high school in Tampa and was drafted by the Marlins in the first round of the 2011 draft. A pretty good story.
3. THOMAS' ERROR: Thought Clete Thomas had a chance to throw Stanton out a home plate in the sixth inning, but rushed trying to get in throwing position, leading to an error.``Didn't look it into his glove," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. ``Started looking up to see where the runner was."
