Today's trophy tales

Owen Sommerness, Edina • 52-inch muskie • Stork Lake (Ontario)

On July 31, Sommerness went muskie fishing for the first time. Fishing Stork Lake, about five hours northeast of International Falls, the 15-year-old caught this 52-inch muskie on a spinner.

Old lure effective: Jeri Fekkers of Meservey, Iowa, caught and released this a 44-inch northern on Lake Mille Lacs. Fekkers fished with a never-before used lure that her father Russ Anderson, of Isle, Minn., bought as a kid 47 years ago.

Bass caught with light tackle: Graham Taets, 12, of Minnetrista, caught this a 6.1-pound largemouth bass on Dutch Lake Aug. 7 while fishing for bluegills using light tackle that included a worm and bobber.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
