It feels weird to "celebrate" good news on a day dedicated to somber remembrance. We've almost been going out of our way not to get too excited about minor things because this is Sept. 11.
But if you are a Vikings fan, you just can't help but be happy that Pat and Kevin Williams won their court ruling and appear to be safe for the season -- and possibly forever -- in the StarCaps case.
Furthermore, if you are a fan of a decade (or so) old bowling film, then this weekend is all about you. Yes, we will be among the proud participants in Lebowski Fest this weekend; tonight's festivities include a screening of the movie at First Avenue, while tomorrow involves bowing and a costume contest at Memory Lanes. This is the first time Lebowski Fest has been in the Twin Cities, and we really don't know what to expect other than a lot of white Russian consumption and a roughly 80/20 male to female ratio.
We are borrowing (from Diddy) a Little Lebowski Urban Achiever t-shirt for tonight. Tomorrow, though, we have no costume. As such, please spend the noon hour giving us Lebowski-related costume suggestions that can be easily put together and/or simply bringing up your favorite quotes from the film. Anyone else in RandBall-land going to the fest?
