This weekend in traffic: Road work, marathon and Grand Old Day

The weather may be the biggest impediment to smooth travel this weekend, and for runners participating in the Minneapolis Half Marathon and party goers attending St. Paul's Grand Old Day as rain is forecast at times on Saturday and Sunday.

I-694 closing

The westbound lanes of I-694 will close from I-35W to Shingle Creek Pkwy. through New Brighton, Fridley and Brooklyn Center from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. The ramp from southbound Hwy. 252 to westbound 694/94 and Hwy. 100 also will be shut down during the repaving project.

Detour: Traffic will detour north on I-35W to Hwy.10, then west on Hwy. 10 to Hwy. 610 to Hwy. 169, then south back to 694.

Johnson Street at 35W

The Johnson Street exit from northbound I-35W will close while crews construct a temporary bypass that will allow motorists to access Johnson Street. Motorists should use the New Brighton Boulevard/Stinson Boulevard exit during the temporary closure.

I-94 west of the metro

Look for closures from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday on Historic Main Street, West River Parkway, Theodore Wirth Parkway, Victory Memorial Drive, Webber Parkway, St. Anthony Parkway.

These Metro Transit Routes impacted. Routes 5 & 22 buses are not detoured but expect delays during race time.

Route 7 buses will detour from 5 - 7:30 am: Northbound buses will follow their regular route on Plymouth Ave and take a right on Washburn, left on 14th Ave, left on Xerxes, left on Plymouth Ave and layover on Plymouth Ave between Xerxes and Washburn. Southbound buses will leave from this stop.

Route 19H buses will detour from 6 am - 12:30 pm:

Northbound buses will follow regular route on 42nd Ave to Washburn, right on Washburn, left on 43rd Ave, left on Xerxes, left on 42nd Ave. Buses will layover on 42nd Ave & Washburn. Buses traveling on Osseo Rd may encounter delays.

Eastbound buses will follow regular route on 46th Ave to 46th St, right on 46th St, right on 36th Ave S. Buses will pull into the 46th St Station and layover at Gate A.

Westbound buses will leave the 46th St Station and take a left on 46th St, left on 46th Ave and resume regular routing.

Route 14 buses (via Broadway) will detour from 6 am - 12:30 pm:

Northbound buses will travel regular route on Broadway to 29th Ave N/Oakdale, continue on Broadway/Hwy 81 to 36th Ave N, left on 36th Ave N and resume regular routing.
Southbound buses will travel regular route on 36th Ave N (via Noble buses) to France, continue on 36th Ave (via France Ave buses will turn left on 36th Ave) to Hwy 81, right on Hwy 81 to Broadway and resume regular routing.
Please board buses on Broadway & 37th Ave N or on Broadway & 29th Ave N.
