Friday-next Sunday: Two years after playing their first in a series of well-received reunion shows, '80s/'90s groove punks Run Westy Run are back for what's sure to be a spirited affair on Christmas Day (9 p.m. Fri., 7th Street Entry, $25). The real gift for old-school music lovers, though, is the return of their offshoot band Iffy. When the Westies petered out in the late '90s, primary vocalist Kirk Johnson launched Iffy as an equally playful but poppier, dance-driven project with bassist Tom Merkl, guitarist Dave Pederson and later his brother Kraig, also of RWR, Golden Smog and Jayhawks notoriety. Iffy's lone album, 2001's "Biota Bondo," is a cult-loved classic loaded with Madchester/Happy Mondays-style psychedelic dance grooves, and the live shows were even more fun. This will be the first in 12 years. A second night had to be added when the first sold out. (9 p.m. Sat.-next Sun. $25. 7th Street Entry, 701 1st Av. N., Mpls. 612-338-8388, first-avenue.com.)
