This week in prep sports: Big-game Tuesday

It's one of those scheduling quirks that seems to arise more often than it should: a night when it seems like every significant game is scheduled on the same evening. Such is the case Tuesday with girls' basketball. No doubt fans in the bleachers will be just as attuned to their smartphones for updates as they are to action on the court in front of them. Here's a sampling of what's in store:

• Bloomington Kennedy (No. 1, 4A) at Eagan, 7 p.m.

• Edina (No. 7, 4A) at Wayzata (No. 9, 4A), 7 p.m.

• Hopkins (No. 2, 4A) at Minnetonka (No. 4, 4A), 7 p.m.

• Providence Academy (No. 1, 2A) at DeLaSalle (No. 2, 3A), 7 p.m.

• Monticello at St. Michael-Albertville (No. 10, 4A), 7:15 p.m.

• Richfield (No. 3, 5A) at Hill-Murray, 7 p.m.

Elsewhere in prep sports this week:

BOYS' HOCKEY

• Thursday: St. Thomas Academy (No. 1, 1A) vs. Hill-Murray (No. 3, 2A), at Aldrich, 7:30 p.m. This one speaks for itself. Get there early.

• Saturday: Edina (No. 2, 2A) vs. Wayzata (No. 1, 2A), at Plymouth, 7 p.m. The second of three scheduled meeting between the teams. Edina blanked Wayzata 3-0 in the first game, in November.

GIRLS' HOCKEY

• Saturday: Minnetonka (No. 1, 2A) vs. Edina (No. 5, 2A), at Braemar, 3 p.m. Minnetonka's Laura Bowman scored the game's lone goal in a 1-0 overtime victory in the first meeting this season.

WRESTLING

• Saturday: Swalla Duals, at Kasson-Mantorville, 10 a.m. Likely matchup between the top two teams in Class 2A, No. 1 Kasson-Mantorville and No. 2 Simley, in the finals.

BOYS' BASKETBALL

• Tuesday: Park Center (No. 1, 4A) at Champlin Park, 7 p.m. ... St. Francis at Columbia Heights (No. 8, 3A), 7:15 p.m.

• Friday: Prior Lake at Apple Valley (No. 2, 4A), 7 p.m.

GYMNASTICS

• Saturday: Class 1A True Team State Meet, at Jackson County Central, noon. New Prague, Alexandria, Austin, Becker, Detroit Lakes, Melrose, Perham, Sauk Rapids, Watertown-Mayer and Jackson Country Central.
