Third game in four nights: Wolves at Charlotte tonight

Undermanned team likely will get help from Luke Ridnour's return Wednesday, but Jonny Flynn's return remains questionable

They're down to just 10 healthy players and one real, dependable point guard who comes and goes to work wearing a protective boot on his hurt foot, but...

The Wolves go at it again tonight in Charlotte, their third game in four nights.

Kevin Love played 40-plus minutes in each of those first two games -- a career first -- and might be asked to do so again.

Remember what your momma said?

Be careful of what you wish for?

"No, she never told me that," Love said before tonight's game. "She always said, `Wish for more." Until I play all 48, I won't be satsified."

Bobcats coach Larry Brown said he saw numbers like Love's 31-31 game on Friday "daily" when he coached in the ABA, but not since then, and that was more than 30 years ago.

"Last year, he never got the minutes it seemed like," Brown said of Love. "When he gets minutes, he does a lot of great things. He rebounds every shot like a missed shot. That's a performance I don't know if we'll see too many of. I was more impressed with following it up with 17 rebounds -- five offensive -- against athletes like Atlanta has.

"When you validate a performance he had against the Knicks with the one he had against Atlanta, that's pretty neat."

Brown called the Wolves "a good young team that's only going to get better" and said Michael Beasley's placement at small forward "seems to suit him well" and he called Wes Johnson "a terrific prospect."

Before tonight's game, Kurt Rambis said it's much more likely Luke Ridnour will play than Jonny Flynn Wednesday against the Clippers. Of Flynn, he said, "I don't think physically he's ready to play," although David Kahn in Atlanta on Sunday said everybody will meet after practice Tuesday and discuss whether Flynn can play some minutes against the Clippers.

Not major minutes, but some.

We'll see.

That's all from pregame here in Charlotte. The opening tap is coming up.
