Another defendant in a robbery-turned-slaying in a south Minneapolis alley was sentenced on Wednesday, to 25 years in prison. Ladell James Johnson, 20, was the third defendant to be sentenced in the January 2011 death of Stanley Rogers Sr. Rogers, 58, was shot to death in a van parked in an alley at E. 37th St. between 3rd and Clinton avenues.
According to the complaint, Lordiss Stewart, then 16, told Gary Griffin, then 17, that Rogers was coming to pick her up and that he often had crack cocaine and money on him. Griffin and Johnson went to rob Rogers, and Johnson, then 18, fatally shot him.
Johnson was found guilty of second-degree murder and aggravated robbery by Judge Allen Oleisky.
